Vinca difformis

I have many different vincas, but Vinca difformis is the one I most prize, for it flowers continuously through the winter, whatever the weather, and therefore is a real treasure. It has large fresh green leaves on the usual long searching stems, with an abundance of the palest milky blue flowers.

Like all Vincas, if left to its own devices it will spread - mine now reaches some eight feet across, climbing into a purple Berberis, making great companion planting. It can be easily contained by pruning into a smaller plant, but if space is available it will make a stunning winter feature, and is quite happy in sun or shade.
