Information for Seed Donors
Changes to the Seed Distribution
For the past three years we have received much less seed from members than usual due, we think, to the poor summers and the fact that seed is not ripening in time for our deadline.
For some time we have been asked to extend the time in which members can send seed to us, but as we work to a deadline to get the seed list printed in time to go in the December magazine, this
has not been possible.
After much discussion in committee and after listening to those who deal with the seed we have decided to make the following changes:
Deadline for receiving seed
This will remain at the end of September, but we will extend the date for receiving late setting seed until October 30th. Please do not delay sending earlier ripening seed until this date as Margaret will not be able to cope with vast amounts of seed arriving in October. The Seed List will now be sent out under separate cover in December.
We will be reverting to sending out only 12 packets of seed to non-donors. By reducing the number of packets from 15 to 12 we hope to be able to offer more members their first choice of seed. The extra allowance for joint members and donors of more than five packets of different seed varieties will remain the same - so do include your name and address when sending seed.
Seed will be sent out in the first two weeks in February
